Title Religion, Morality and Freedom - Three Human Phenomena in a Cognitive Perspective
Description The human cognitive blueprint is characterized by abilities that lead to outstanding competence in both solving problems and managing one's own drives - and this in a social context. These abilities include: a mental timeline that is open to future and past, a cognitive control of one's own drives, the viewing of one's own self as an actor on the fantasy stage of imagined world events, insight into the mental state of other people, social needs for autonomy, security and excitement. Against the horizon of freedom, these cognitive abilities also awaken the insight into the necessity of one's own death, the intuitive knowledge of fairness in interpersonal interactions and the longing for a supernatural dimension as a stage for realizing one's own motives.
