Title Career Flourishing: A Comprehensive Approach to Life-Integrated Career Planning (advanced seminar)
Description This seminar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of career self-management based on a broadly applicable framework. The framework integrates career development into a broader life context and emphasizes goal setting, resource management and adaptability from a whole-life perspective. It provides an integrative approach to a holistic understanding in planning and pursuing career and life goals.

The seminar goes beyond traditional academic teaching and actively involves you in your career self-management. While you gain valuable theoretical insights into career development, the focus is active learning. Through structured self-reflection exercises, practical exercises, and interactive coursework, you will develop the essential skills to manage your career in the larger context of your life. Therefore, a mandatory prerequisite for this course is a willingness to actively engage with yourself, your career, and your life goals. This will give you actionable strategies and tools for effective career planning, resource management, and adaptability.

The course is built on the four core components of the applied framework model:

1. Goal setting: Theoretical foundations of effective goal setting, including the role of self-determination and personal values, will be discussed. Techniques for making informed educational and career decisions are covered.

2. Recognize resources and barriers: Participants will be able to assess both personal and external resources that may be helpful in career development. In addition, strategies for overcoming obstacles, such as external challenges, will be covered.

3. Making and implementing plans: This section focuses on developing skills for strategic planning and effectively implementing behaviors to achieve goals. Various critical career management behaviors are discussed and strategies for effective action planning are covered.

4. Review and adapt: The course concludes with a focus on introspection and feedback mechanisms. Critical thinking to evaluate one's career and adjust plans is emphasized.

The course consists of four face-to-face sessions of half a day, spread over the semester. In between, you will complete various homework assignments for self-reflection and exploration of the world of work. Active participation in all four sessions is a mandatory requirement for the course.
