Psychological Interventions in Psychosomatic Treatment |
Description |
Functional and somatoform bodily complaints frequently become chronic, cause significant distress for the patient, are expensive for the health-care system, and may be related to significant interactional challenges in the provider-patient relationship. In this seminar, we will cover phenomenology, etiological models, assessment and psychological treatment options for functional and somatoform disorders. Examples of relevant topics being covered are the biopsychosocial model, stress and coping, attentional and cognitive processes, illness behavior, stigmatization, communication, treatment motivation, multimodal therapy and the therapeutic relationship. |
