Title |
Early detection and intervention in mental disorders in children and adolescents |
Description |
Mental disorders often start in childhood and adolescence. They are associated with substantial psychosocial and economic burden. Therefore, there has been growing interest in the development of prevention approaches for children and adolescents in recent years with the aim to prevent development of a mental disorder or at least to positively influence its course. This requires the development of both adequate criteria to detect the first signs of the respective mental disorder (early detection) and based thereupon evidence-based intervention approaches (early intervention).
Against this background, students will acquire knowledge and competencies in carrying out current early detection and intervention approaches, e.g. for psychotic, anxiety or externalizing disorders as well as for of parental skills and positive couple/family interactions.
Requirements are active participation (max. absence 2 times), group presentation, and writing a problem analysis report. |
