Title |
Proseminar Social and Cultural Geography: Digital Geographies of the globale intimate |
Description |
Processes of digitalization and globalization have not only fundamentally changed our everyday life, but are now affecting the most intimate areas of our lives - the way we love, have sex, reproduce, understand our bodies, care for and be cared for each other, etc. In this Proseminar we will deal with these profound upheavals that the interweaving of the global with the intimate through digitalization brings about. As an alternative to traditional seminar work, we will experiment with the production and editing of podcasts in order to present content and research results and make them accessible to a wider public. Using a concrete case study (e.g. dating gapp, organ donation, the reproduction market, cosmetic surgery, sex work, care work, etc.), students investigate the effects of digitalization and globalization on our intimate (co)life. You will work with methods of empirical social research and design a script for an audio feature (podcast). The students present the results of the empirical projects in the form of a podcast. |
