Title Personality disorders in practice and research
Description We all have a personality, which means different characteristics. Extreme expressions of a personality style with inflexible, rigid and inexpedient personality traits can be referred to as personality disorders and represent a category of mental illnesses. About 10% of the general population suffer from a personality disorder, with 40 to 60% the frequency is significantly higher in psychiatric patients. Despite empirical findings of the contrary, the belief that personality disorders are difficult to treat is still widespread, which is why many patients do not receive adequate treatment. Well-founded and differentiated knowledge of how this population can benefit from psychotherapy could change that and is the aim of this seminar course. In line with the inverted classroom concept, students independently acquire the basic learning content made available digitally so that they can work well prepared on the really demanding elements of the course in the classroom appointments. These are study designs and a scientific poster, which experience has shown that learners need support in creating. We will use the possibilities of ILIAS and with the new e-learning-possibilities, offer an interactive, video-supported seminar with two face-to-face meetings in order to ensure that the learning outcomes are achieved.
Each online session deals with one of the ten personality disorders according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Cluster A: Paranoid PS, Schizoid PS, Schizotypic PS; Cluster B: Antisocial PS, Borderline PS, Histrionic PS, Narcissistic PS; Cluster C: Dependent PS, self-insecure PS, Compulsive PS).
