Title Fleeing, psychological consequences and innovative treatment options
Description Wars, authoritarian power regimes and environmental catastrophes repeatedly cause refugee movements. Currently, 80 million people worldwide are affected by this extreme situation. Leaving one's homeland and arriving in a new country is in many ways associated with psychological distress. Examples include cultural changes or the loss of status/identity, control, security/safety, social relationships and existential meaning. Mental disorders are often the result of these burdens.

In the seminar, the psychological consequences of flight, their treatment options and innovative approaches to improving the psychological situation and care of refugees will be elaborated based on recent research literature.
