Title Praxisseminar: Gender Perspectives on Paid and Unpaid Work in the Global South and Global North
Description Considering the major role of decent work in achieving the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, this seminar seeks to analyse and discuss labour market issues in different locations in the Global South and North from a gender perspective. This seminar aims to encourage critical reflection on the world of work in order to identify the various gender gaps and challenges that need to be addressed in order to achieve an inclusive, sustainable and decent labour market. The course is organised in two blocks of activities: during the first block – which will be carried out jointly with students from Kathmandu University, Nepal – students will work with a Massive Open Online Course that addresses the world of work in the Global South with particular emphasis on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on paid and unpaid work. This first block will be conducted entirely in English. During the second block, students will conduct interviews with essential workers in the Global North based on the questions posed and the knowledge acquired during the first block. Based on the information gathered during the interviews, students will write blog posts –in English or in German– reflecting on the topics covered during the Praxis-Seminar.
The Massive Open Online Course and the discussion with the students from Kathmandu University, Nepal will be in English (Level B2)
