Title |
The social psychology of gullibility and belief in fake news |
Description |
In the modern post-truth age, where the boundaries between facts and fake news are increasingly blurred, handling misinformation is crucial in many areas of daily life, e.g., politics, health communication, journalism, education, and science. This seminar will examine the cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes influencing whether people accept and pass on (mis)information. We will explore how the Internet has changed the way (mis)information is produced, consumed, and transmitted. Finally, we will discuss recent approaches to combating fake news.
Prerequisites for the acquisition of 5 ECTS credits are:
1. regular active participation in the sessions
2. organization of one seminar session (group work)
3. passing the final examination |
