Title Emotion knowledge and emotion regulation in childhood- prevention and therapy
Description Emotions are everyday phenomena. They influence for example our perception, behavior and interactions with other people. In addition to language development, knowledge about emotions and their regulation is an important milestone in childhood. Children with better emotion knowlege have more friends in school, are better in self-regulation, and have more success in school later.
Children often have to deal with the long-term consequences if support of emotional development has been limited in childhood. Consequences can result in psychological and/or behavioral problems. Prevention and therapy could help children to prevent or reduce such negative consequences.

Against this background the participants will get an overview of the following topics:
• theories of emotion knowledge and emotion regulation
• their psychometric assessment in childhood
• treatment techniques for prevention and therapy in childhood
