Description |
Prerequisites:
A successful passing of the courses "Introduction to Materials and Analytics", "Introduction to Ultraprecision Engineering " and "Introduction to Precision Optics" is strongly recommended.
Course description:
This course will give an insight into different manufacturing processes with a focus on laser material processing. The following topics will be addressed:
- Models and methods to describe light – matter interaction
- Industrial laser processing i.e. hardening, cutting, welding and additive manufacturing
- Laser micro-processing with short and ultrashort pulses
- Laser assisted and laser induced processes for micro and nano manufacturing
- Basics of solidification processing, hot and cold working, powder based processes, material removal and joining processes
- Influences of the different processing methods on the microstructure and properties of materials and their surfaces |
