Ergänzungsseminar Boredom and well-being at work |
Description |
This seminar draws on theory from work and organizational psychology and focuses on the understudied phenomenon of boredom at work. Students will learn about the many elements predicting this experience and the consequences of boredom at work that the literature has highlighted. The theme of boredom at work will be discussed in intersection with the meaning of work.
This seminar will address the following elements: (1) Boredom at work, its definitions, measures, and critical concepts; (2) Contextual and individual antecedents of boredom at work; (3) job boredom, its outcomes, and processes;(4) meaning of work and job boredom; (5) Interventions on job boredom.
Students will be assessed during the semester with group presentations. At the end of the semester, students will submit a group report. There is no exam.
This seminar will be in English, but students can write the final group report in German. Detailed information will follow. |
