Title |
Neuroscience of Sleep |
Description |
Sleep, a time when conscious perception is suspended, is a fundamental evolutionary process. The importance of sleep can be inferred from the fact that thus far all animals studied engage in sleep or sleep-like behavior and sleep deprivation often has disastrous consequences. This course will address the fundamental questions pertaining to the neuroscience of sleep, including:
1) What is sleep and how do we measure it?
2) Why do we sleep?
3) What is the brain doing while we sleep?
4) Can we learn and consolidate memories while sleeping? |
