Title |
Evidence-based treatment of Alcohol Use Disorders: Selected therapeutic aspects and the origin of the evidence. |
Description |
Alcohol use disorders (AUD) are among the most common mental disorders. Their impact on the quality of life of patients and their families is immense.
After a brief introduction to classification and aetiology of AUD, the first part of this course is concerned with evidence-based treatment of AUD: After a first over overview, we will zoom in on selected aspects of this treatment. Here, a first focus is on motivational interviewing. After learning relevant concepts of motivational interviewing, we will deepen the knowledge through reflection of possible client-therapist-interactions. With a second focus on cognitive bias modification, a rather innovative aspect of AUD treatment, will be discussed.
The second part of the seminar will discuss research leading to evidence-based treatment recommendations. Exemplary topics here include the pros and cons of different ways to measure outcome or possibilities to enhance the individual prognosis. |
