Title Friendships in adulthood
Description Over the past two decades, it has become clear that friendships are the most important factor influencing our happiness, mental well-being, physical health, and even our risk of death. Friendships are obviously of enormous importance. But what exactly defines friendships, and when do they have all these positive effects? Are there (still) differences between friendships among females and those among males, and what is meant by "bromances"? What impact do gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnicity have on forming and maintaining friendships, and what are the costs and benefits of friendships that cross these group boundaries? The course aims to review the current state of knowledge on these and other important questions about friendship.
