Description |
This course will give an overview of the international regulatory framework for banks and capital markets. In essence, it will cover the following topics:
(1) The rationales for regulation and supervision, i.e. the “anatomy” of market failures linked to the global banking sector and cross-border capital market transactions.
(2) The central pillars of today's «architecture» for global financial markets as well as the main regulators, supervisory authorities and international standard setters who are responsible for shaping the international regulatory landscape (e.g. Financial Stability Board, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, International Commission of Securities Regulators, European Financial Authorities, etc.)
(3) Regulatory “hot topics”, including climate change and green finance, digital finance and cryptocurrencies as well as current trends in enforcement, such as, internal investigations and whistleblowing.
