Description:
This course provides an introduction to the institutional and policy framework for the global coordination of financial regulation and its implementation on the national level. No prior familiarity with financial regulation is required. We will use banking scandals and financial crisis to learn about the drivers and the context of regulatory initiatives and about the challenges of cross-border enforcement. We will also include discussions about current regulatory topics (e.g., crypto-assets, climate change). Furthermore, we will provide an overview and a critical analysis of the international regulatory architecture, the main regulatory bodies, the policy making by soft law regulation, as well as the achievements and limitation of international regulatory cooperation.
