Description |
Prerequisites: conservation of indigenous vertebrates, lecture. 2 block excursions. Registration deadline in KSL 15 May.
These excursions are going to illustrate in the field conservation problems faced by indigenous vertebrates. They are complementary to the course «Conservation of indigenous vertebrates» and are open only to students attending the course. All major groups of indigenous vertabrates will be presented during 5 + 2 days organized in two blocs. The first block takes place on Thursday and Friday before the beginning of the spring semester. It is devoted to waterfowl and other birds wintering on Swiss lakes, to hibernating bats (visit to caves in the Jura mountains and in the Alps), to Alpine wild ungulates and large birds of prey (raptors and owls). The second block lasts 5 days, starting at the end of the spring semester. The first day is devoted to amphibians (Basel area), the second to fish conservation (Swiss Plateau), the third day to reptiles (Bernese Oberland) and the final two days to birds and mammals (Seeland and Valais). |
