Title |
Biology of the honeybee and apiculture, seminar and practical |
Description |
Block course integrating lectures, seminar and practical work. 23.06.2025-27.06.2025 in Liebefeld/Bern. Registration directly with lecturer (deadline 1. February): write an e-mail to lars.straub@unibe.ch (limited number of participants).
Honey bees are essential pollinators for the maintenance of natural biodiversity and agriculture. Colony losses witnessed throughout the Northern hemisphere are therefore worrying, especially because no single driver has emerged yet as their definitive cause. This calls for more research on honey bee health. The course will provide you with an overview on bee biology and ongoing research with a focus on honey bee pathology and bee health stressors in general. The course includes lectures, seminars as well as practical work with bees. |
