Title |
Education and Educational Systems: International and Historical Comparisons in Sociological Educational Research |
Description |
The lecture will discuss central themes, questions and research results from the sociology of education on current issues relating to education and educational systems from a historical and international comparative perspective. In addition to questions about the understanding of education and the value of education (keyword: education as a positional good), the focus will also be on questions about changes in individual educational behavior, structural educational offerings and institutionalized educational processes, which will be described from a sociological perspective and explained using social science approaches. In addition, interactions between educational behavior, the educational system and the labor market will be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to the role of different social contexts in the acquisition and outcomes of education. |
