Title |
Galois Theory |
Description |
This course is devoted to the study of Galois Theory, a classical branch of Mathematics that establishes a fundamental connection between Field Theory and Group Theory. More precisely, we will study properties of field extensions and groups of automorphisms associated to them, and their connections given by the Galois correspondence. The goals of this course are: first, to understand the relationships existing between algebraic equations, field extensions, and groups and use them in order to transfer properties from one to the other; second, to apply this theory to the solvability of equations by radicals and to the resolution of classical problems of ruler and compass constructions. |
