Title Distressed couples in Psychotherapy
Description Over the last four decades research and practice in the field of couple distress and couple therapy has produced different treatment protocols including cognitive behavioral, integrative behavioral , systemic and emotion-focused couple therapy. Participants of the seminar will learn about the central theoretical models and concepts of these therapeutic approaches. Furthermore, key interventions of cognitive behavioral, integrative behavioral and emotion-focused approaches will be introduced and participants will have the opportunity to practice the therapeutic application of these interventions role-playing..
The analysis of video examples will further be used to train problem-understanding and to deepen the participants understanding of the therapists behaviour and interventions in different therapeutic approaches.
In addition typical challenges in couple therapy (like infidelity, low motivation for therapy, etc.) and how to deal with them in the therapy will be discussed. Participants should be willing to actively engage in the discussions, and the group-exercises, which will capture a large part of the seminar. Participants will reflect on the seminar content in a final exam.
