Title |
Writing for Publication in Climate Sciences |
Description |
This course is intended for PhD students of the Graduate School Climate Sciences. It is designed to help junior researchers in the climate sciences develop the skills needed to write their first research articles in English. The course deals with using AI writing tools ethically and effectively, fitting texts to target readerships and journals, managing the writing process efficiently, structuring each section of the text optimally, producing fluent and reader-focused sentences and paragraphs, editing the text before submission, and revising in response to reviewers’ comments.
Participants are expected to produce several short texts as homework assignments, undertake peer-review and AI-review exercises with their texts, and receive detailed individual feedback on these during the course.
Average homework load is 2–3 hours per week. The final assignment is a portfolio of improved second-draft texts that can be incorporated in the student’s own publications or other work. |
