Title |
Seminar Organizational Field Experiments |
Description |
Students will learn how to investigate a practical research question using a field experiment. They will be guided through conducting a field experiment in cooperation with an external partner, developing an experimental design, and testing targeted measures for their effectiveness.
Structure:
The seminar begins with an introductory session. Groups are formed, and each group selects their own external partner. This can be a company, an organization, a school, a club, a cafeteria, a fitness center, etc. Together with the partner, the groups define a research setting. Each group develops a research design, which will be discussed and refined during a workshop with all participants. Students then implement their experiment and analyze the collected data, which is ultimately summarized in a short paper.
Topic for Spring Semester 2025:
This semester, the seminar will focus on the topic of "Nudging." Whether it’s about promoting sustainable decisions, healthier eating habits, or environmentally friendly actions in daily life (e.g., proper waste disposal or reduced water consumption), small, targeted nudges can help encourage "better," i.e., welfare-enhancing, decisions without restricting individual freedom. Potential areas of application will be explored in depth during the seminar, and groups are free to choose their specific settings.
Registration Information:
You can register for the seminar by sending an email to Michèle Kaeser (michele.kaeser@unibe.ch). The seminar is limited to 12 participants. Registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis!
