Cyberpsychology |
Description |
Virtual reality (VR) have become an indispensable part of everyday life for modern people. Technical developments within the last two decades have made social media, augmented reality, online games, cybertherapy or virtual learning possible. This event will focus on current research approaches that deal with human experience and behavior in virtual realities. First, we will narrow down the term "cyberpsychology" and establish a concise definition. After that, the following topics will be covered: "Social networks", "Immersion: immersion in media mediated worlds", "Immersive virtual worlds". This last part will focus on modern and highly immersive VR systems such as Oculus Rift and what opportunities and risks are associated with them.
Requirements:
Participants will read given articles and search for their own empirical as well as theoretical articles on the topic. In addition, the participants will prepare presentations, which will then be presented and discussed in plenary. Participants will also actively participate in the conception of an experimental design. Regular and active participation is required. |
