Title |
Personality Psychology |
Description |
Starts in the 2nd week of the semester!
Content:
This lecture course provides Master students with a wide-ranging yet immersed overview of the fundamental topics and contemporary research findings in personality psychology. The study of personality is aproched from multiple levels of analysis – biological and trait approaches, social-cognitive, motivational and emotional approaches. The lectures cover themes of attachment, self and identity, motivation, emotion- and self-regulation, as well as development and change of personality. The focus will be directed mainly at personality psychology as an empirical field, its current state of research and latest findings. Accordingly, readings involve recent theoretical and empirical literature. The goals of this course are to gain insight into the various levels of analysis in personality, an understanding of important individual differences that contribute to personality, and ultimately, to integrate the different levels, so as to comprehend personality as a coherent whole.
Requirements:
Regular and active participation, independent preparation of the literature. The semester concludes with a comprehensive written exam of the course content.
Accompanying the lecture course is a weekly tutorial (see Tutorial: Personality psychology). For students with main module “PDD” (30 ECTS), attending the tutorial is mandatory. Everyone else can attend the lecture without the tutorial, though, everyone is welcomed to participate.
Literature: Will be announced at the start of the semester
