Title |
Proteomics & Metabolomics (lecture and practicals) |
Description |
This course provides an introduction to analytical methods and instrumentation (Mass Spectrometry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) used in proteomics and metabolomics data processing procedures and concepts. We introduce how the data acquired on the different instrument platforms can be used to gain new biological insights. Each area will be introduced by theoretical lectures and time is allocated for discussion of the subject and some hands-on exercises. The students are invited to several practicals, where they do hands-on sample manipulation and get introduced to instrumentation. At the end of the semester all students have to pass an examination (oral or written depending on the number of students).
Each student needs a laptop with WLAN connection ability. The classroom is either virtual or equipped with WLAN and a projection beamer. It is planned that each student downloads and installs the necessary software him/herself. Data files will be provided on server for download. |
