Description If you sign in for the course you are automatically signed in for the exam!
The course will be given by a Dr. Umut Kuruüzüm from Vienna, Austria.

This course examines the anthropology of supply chains in the Middle East, with a focus on the production and circulation of commodities in the 21st century. Drawing on ethnographic case studies, students will examine how global supply chains intersect with war, resource extraction, labour migration, infrastructural development, pollution, and state policies. Students will also explore the lived experiences of workers within globalized exchange systems, examining the informal economies driving production, as well as how new technological and economic practices transform labor landscapes, such as the rise of gig work and platform economies. The course provides theoretical and methodological tools to trace the human and material geographies of supply chains within Middle Eastern economies, particularly in the context of expanding supply chain due diligence laws and monitoring in the Global North.
