Title |
History of the Earth |
Description |
Students will learn about geological history from the time of Earth’s formation to the present day. Particular focus will be on the co-evolution and interaction of life and the planet/solid Earth. Students will be introduced to methods by which geological history is assessed. Students will gain experience in the critical evaluation of geological and geochemical evidence for events, processes, and conditions that occurred over Earth’s history. Previous knowledge regarding plate tectonics, mineralogy, and geochemistry is an advantage. Students will be assessed through a group presentation of a poster from a selection of topics relevant to Earth’s history (in English or German), as well as three smaller assessments during the course. The course will be taught primarily in English. |
