Title Frontiers of Political Science Research
Description In this class, we will discuss cutting-edge research from invited political scientists, covering various fields, including international relations, political economy, environmental politics, public policy, European politics, political behavior, and comparative politics. Students will both gain a broader understanding of political science research, different sub-fields of political science, and go more in-depth in the analysis of specific strands of the literature. We will discuss the theoretical perspectives, main arguments, findings, and methodological approaches of the covered research. The topical basis of the seminar are the preparatory sessions, the five presentations of the guest speakers (and the papers they present), plus a reading list complementing the covered research. We will discuss the work of the guest speakers and their respective sub-fields, both to prepare and post process the presentations. Students will write a report focusing on the research of one of the speakers and an article review. Active participation and preparation of the weekly session is required for this seminar.
