| Title |
How do we speak? |
| Description |
Talking, chatting, babbling, whispering: there are many ways to speak. We say it one way or the other. We speak Bärndütsch or use teen slang. Some use gender-neutral language, others don't. We express ourselves cautiously or emphasize our words with grand gestures. And how we say it, says something about us. But what?
This spring semester, the Collegium generale lecture series explores contemporary language use. How do we speak? What current trends are shaping dialect and standard language? How does AI affect our spoken language? And how is language used politically? The lectures in the series present current research on speech and language. |
