Title Inferential Network Analysis
Description The course introduces statistical models for data with network dependencies. Typical examples include friendship networks, alliances between firms, strategic behavior of firms, co-sponsorship of bills by legislators, advice-seeking relations among employees, interest group networks, and international relations. All of these examples exhibit complex dependencies between observations and thus need to be conceptualized as a network. Inferential network analysis serves to model network data as a function of endogenous dependencies between observations and exogenous covariates. The course will mainly cover the Exponential Random Graph Model (ERGM) and its extensions and the Temporal Network Autocorrelation Model (TNAM). If possible, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
