Title Modern psychoanalytic and psychodynamic approaches in psychotherapy
Description Since the dawn of psychoanalysis, a variety of different psychoanalytic and psychodynamic treatment approaches have been developed. After a reappraisal of the conceptual and diagnostic basics, we will cover examples of psychoanalytic-psychodynamic approaches that have operationalized the therapeutic procedures in treatment manuals. These are the Supportive-Expressive Therapy by Luborsky, the Panic-Focused Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, the Structure-Based Psychotherapy by Rudolf, the Transference-Focused Psychotherapy by Kernberg, the Mentalization-Based Therapy, as well as selected integrative approaches. The empirical evidence for each approach will be examined.
