Proseminar BA: Special topics in philosophy of science, wp, th |
Description |
This course will explore a range of topics in philosophy of science, in particular topics related to the nature of scientific knowledge, scientific methods, scientific observation, and to the relationship between scientific theorizing and experimental practice. The following questions will be at the core of our inquiry: What are the different ways to construct a theory? How can scientists establish if theories are true, and how do they choose between different competing models? How do experiments reveal the constitution of our physical world? This module will also address the problems of scientific experimental practice, such as theory-ladenness, underdetermination and the replicability crisis.
