Root number 412058
Semester HS2021
Type of course Lecture
Allocation to subject Molecular Life Sciences
Type of exam Written exam
Title RNA Biology I
Description This lecture series covers aspects of RNA biology related to the regulation of gene expression at the transcriptional and posttranscriptional levels. These include RNA transcription, processing, alternative splicing, editing, export and translation. The aim of these lectures is to provide a comprehensive educational offering in the field of RNA Biology for MSc and PhD students. The NCCR RNA & Disease offers the unique chance to have lectures taught by leading experts in the field from five Swiss research institutions covering a wide range of aspects of RNA biology.

Content:
Transcription & 3’end formation; splicing, alternative splicing, RNA editing; the ribosome & translation, translation regulation, RNP biogenesis & nuclear export, mRNA surveillance & mRNA turnover; rhythmic transcriptome & proteome; long ncRNAs

NOTE:
The lecture series "RNA Biology I" and "RNA Biology II" can be attended in any particular order and do not interdepend on each other.
