Inhibition and alcohol dependence: research on behavioral effects, neurophysiological correlates, and therapeutic application |
| Description |
This seminar zooms in on research in the field of inhibition in alcohol use disorders (AUD). The first part of the seminar deals with current state of research. In the second part, students design a possible research project.
The first part looks at the measurement of inhibition on behavioral and neurophysiological (EEG and fMRI) levels and on the respective alterations found in patients with AUD. Then, this research is related to the current neuroscientific conceptualization of addiction. Finally, attempts to use this knowledge to improve therapy outcomes are presented.
In the second part, students will from groups and design a research project within this area. This project will be summarized in a project description including state of research, research question and hypotheses and methods. |
