Title Introduction to Ancient Philosophy
Description The first part of the module on the history of philosophy deals with Ancient, Western Philosophy from Pre-Socratics to Late Antiquity. Our thematic focus is on metaphysics and philosophy of religion, the philosophers Aristotle and Plato will be discussed more widely.
The respective (primary) text basis will be provided via ILIAS. For the preparation before the beginning of the course, the reading of an introduction into (ancient) history of philosophy is recommended, e.g. Wolfgang Röd, Der Weg der Philosophie, Bd. 1:Altertum, Mittelalter, Renaissance, München: Beck 2009 or Otfried Höffe, Klassiker der Philosophie, Band 1 (Von den Vorsokratikern bis David Hume), Beck 2009.
