Title |
Political Online Communication |
Description |
Lectured by Ernesto de León
How do social media, political participation, news consumption and campaigning come together in the online world? This proseminar addresses this question by providing a comprehensive overview of the current status of research in online communication science, with a focus on political communication. Engaging with both theoretical and empirical research, studies are discussed from a public-theoretical perspective and their relationship to classic forms of online communication is assessed. In the proseminar, we seek to engage with pressing questions such as: “How does social media shape the political arena?”, “How do people access and engage with political news online?”, “How has the internet changed political campaigning?”, and “What role do social network sites play in citizen mobilization?”
