Title |
Healthy Ageing |
Description |
Everyone wants to get old, but nobody wants to be old!
This citation of german actor Gustav Knuth, sums up the current situation quite precisely.
In past years, our society is faced with more and more older adults. And his trend will go on. After all 2018 one fifth of the population in Switzerland was 65 or older. Therefore adults are and be getting older, than before.
This, however, encompasses challenges for health psychology, since retirement isn’t as uneventful, as previously suggested. While aging numerous social, cognitive, and physiological changes occur, which could essentially influence the aging process in a positive or negative manner. Accordingly, health psychologists in practice and research strive to support older adults in aging healthily.
In this seminar, you will gain a better understanding of the social, cognitive, and physiological factors, that influence the process of aging. Therefore, on one hand, the most known theories of aging and on the other hand factors influencing aging will be elaborated.
For this participants will prepare a thematic session with subsequent discussion and elaborate an interview guideline for their chosen topic, which they then execute with an older person, evaluate, and present. |
