Title |
Programming of online and lab experiments with Inquisit |
Description |
Inquisit is a widely used software for programming experiments in psychology. One of the advantages of Inquisit over other popular alternatives, such as psychtoolbox in Matlab, Psychopy or Java, is that it is very easy to get started programming your own experiments. Inquisit was developed specifically for running experiments in psychology and as such requires very little programming knowledge.
This seminar is a hands-on introduction to Inquisit and is intended for master's students in psychology who are interested in learning to design and program an experiment. It will teach how to "program" a computer so that it can be used as an "interaction partner" in psychological research.
In this seminar, you will use Inquisit as a starting point for programming your own experiments. Each week we will look at a different experimental design from psychology and learn how to program the key features in Inquisit. By the end of the course, you should be able to implement your own basic experiments in Inquisit and further develop your knowledge of Inquisit. You will also leave the seminar with a better understanding of experimental design.
The knowledge acquired is not only essential for research in universities, but also a highly desirable skill in many areas of professional psychological practice and as important as the handling of computer program packages for statistical data analysis. |
