Title |
Psycho-social stress: Impacts on interpersonal behaviour |
Description |
"Stress" refers to psychological and physical reactions caused by specific external stimuli (stressors), which enable us to cope with special demands. Stress plays a central role in adapting to changing environmental conditions.
In this seminar we will discuss current research examining the influence of psychosocial stress (e.g. conflicts, social isolation, sleep deprivation, etc.) on our behaviour. The main focus will lie on studies that combine different methods (e.g. behavioural experiments, brain imaging techniques, physiological measures, etc.) to investigate social interactions and social cognition.
Conditions:
Regular attendance and active participation (in form of a presentation and lively discussions) are expected. In addition, students will write an essay on a given topic. |
