Title |
Understanding and communicating Data |
Description |
Data is omnipresent in our everyday lives, whether we generate it ourselves for big tech or whether it is sold to us as a reason for political decisions. The importance of communicating data was made abundantly clear in the Covid 19 pandemic, and scientific findings on climate change also need to be communicated effectively and efficiently. Being able to deal with data is a core competency. In this proseminar, we will highlight the various steps from raw data to communication.
Students will
- Import data, explore and plot it
- Learn which data is best presented how
- Gain fundamental knowledge of how people understand data and of how to best communicate data.
- Analyze real-life communication of data (e.g. task force or ICPP).

- students must be able to bring to each session a computer with R, RStudio and the tidyverse-package preinstalled |
