Module "General Elective Courses"

Course type: two-week block course in the last two weeks before the fall semester lecture period.

Selection criterion: The number of participants is limited and subject to availability of supervisors and suitable topics. There are no prerequisites for this course but students who passed the course "Computer-Assisted Surgery" and selected the Major Module "Image-Guided Therapy" are given preference followed by other students of the master's program Biomedical Engineering. PhD students and students from other study programs can be admitted by the responsible lecturer if free places are available.

Format: 2-week block course, workshops in the morning with one on one project work in the afternoon. The workshops will follow the progression of a scientific methodology and students will write corresponding components of a scientific report during the workshops.

Prerequisites:
Courses: Computer-Assisted Surgery

Recommended courses/skills:
• Courses: Computer.-Assisted Surgery, Introduction to Image Analysis
• Skills: experimental design, scientific writing and presentation, software skills (programming-C++, Matlab, image processing, machine learning, computer vision etc.) or surgical / computer assisted surgery

- Material required for individual projects will be provided by the project supervisors.
