Title |
Labour Economics |
Description |
This course aims to familiarize students with labor economics topics that are relevant to current policy
debates worldwide. The topics will be covered from both theoretical and empirical perspectives.
Students will gain knowledge about various trends in labor market outcomes, such as employment,
unemployment, and wage inequality. In addition, the course will explore recent theoretical models and
empirical strategies developed to analyze these trends. By the end of the course, students will have a
broad understanding of labor economics and its implications for public policy.
Course/Text readings:
The main text for the course is Cahuc, Carcillo, and Zylberberg, Labor Economics, 2nd Edition.
Supplementary readings that are relevant to each subject will be listed on the course website.
Please note:
This course includes an empirical assignment that will be posted on November 20th and due on
December 11th at the beginning of class. It is essential to include your name and student ID on
each page of your submission. The assignment requires working in pairs and utilizing statistical
software (e.g., STATA, R). The lab sessions (20/11, 27/11, 4/12), which will be held by the
teaching assistant, will provide an opportunity to work on the assignment.
The empirical assignment will be assessed based on a pass/fail grading system. Passing
this assignment is a prerequisite for taking the final exam.
The assessment of the empirical assignment is only valid for this academic year and cannot be
transferred to future semesters or years.
