Title |
Masculinities from a social psychological perspective |
Description |
This seminar introduces current knowledge and research on masculinities from a social-psychological perspective. The seminar communicates different theoretical approaches to masculinities and how these approaches can be used to understand pressing life topics such as romantic relationships, men's physical and mental health, and violence and aggression. To frame these discussions, the seminar will include biological, social learning, social constructionist, feminist and intersectional perspectives, and the history of the psychology of men and masculinities.
The course will be largely based on Addis, M. E. & Hoffman, E. (2019). The psychology of men in context. New York, NY: Routledge. Each topic will be further accompanied by other research papers. |
