The objective of this course is to introduce students to understanding international financial markets both from a theoretical and empirical approach. The following topics are covered: arbitrage and speculative positions in foreign exchange rate market, theories of exchange rate determination, law of one price and purchasing power parity, the international monetary system from an historical perspective, the study of blockchains, the challenges provided by cryptocurrencies and the evolution of financial markets through decentralized digital finance.

Evaluation (grade). The grade will be determined exclusively by a final exam consisting of essay and multiple-choice questions.
