Title |
Research Practical in Plant Genetics and Development |
Description |
Activity: Participation in a current research project of the research group or, by arrangement, work on your own topic. Answering your own research question through scientific work. The modalities (including timetable and details regarding grading) of the internship are determined in personal consultation with the lecturers before it begins.
Date: by personal arrangement, preferably during the semester break.
Duration: Practical work: approx. 4 weeks full-time or equivalent in the research group. The internship report is normally written independently after the practical work or directly after the practical work in the group.
Scope of the internship report: Main part approx. 10 pages (excl. cover sheet, appendices, etc.). Short introduction, material & methods, results, short discussion, bibliography (min. 10 scientific references).
Every multicellular organism is built from a single cell through developmental processes like cell division, differentiation and pattern formation. Here, you will collaborate on a research project that addresses these processes during the formation of the plant’s breathing pores or stomata. To understand how stomata develop and function, we use techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, microscopy, genetics and plant-atmosphere gas-exchange physiology. You will closely collaborate on an existing research project in the lab and be directly supervised by the responsible PhD student or postdoc. |
