Title |
Journal club macroevolution, seminar |
Description |
We read and discuss papers or book chapters that deal with various aspects of the origin of species, the evolution of species differences, the ecology of species diversity and trait diversity and the evolution of species richness. We select papers such that in each semester we discuss the connections between microevolutionary processes and events in macroevolution, and the role of ecology in both. In some semesters we discuss individual papers, in other semesters we read entire books. By participating in our journal club, students learn how to read, evaluate and critically discuss scientific publications while become more familiar with a broad set of concepts in ecology and evolution.
All parts of this course will use zoom, and some sessions will additionally happen in-presence at the eawag CEEB in Kastanienbaum. |
