Title Biochemistry I for Pharmacy Students
Description Basic principles of protein structure, properties and function. Structure of lipids and membranes and their properties and function. Introduction to electrolytes, ion channels and ion pumps. Importance of enzymes, coenzymes, vitamins and trace elements in cellular metabolism. Focus areas: metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleotides. Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation. Basic principles of blood biochemistry (metabolism of erythrocytes, haemoglobin, iron)
