Inorganic Chemistry I, incl. Exercises |
Description |
This course provides a broad knowledge of the most important concepts in inorganic chemistry as the fundament for more specialist topics. It will systematically cover the chemistry of the main group metal and non-metal elements with special emphasis on their bonding, reactivity and derived compounds. Moreover, outlooks into selected topics at the forefront of inorganic and materials chemistry will be included in the course.
Topics to be covered include trends in structure and bonding, molecular orbital theory, hybridization, hypervalency and hyperconjugation, periodic trends of properties, electron deficient bonding, conductivity, allotropy, organometallic chemistry and an introduction to structure determination and characterization. |
